Consortium Completes Paget Rangers Takeover

Paget Rangers and Birmingham St. George's to Merge

Consortium Completes Paget Rangers Takeover

A consortium led by James Parker has completed its takeover of Paget Rangers Football Club replacing the previous board. James Parker becomes the club’s new Chairman and he will now set about formalising the new boardroom structure. The consortium is composed of ten local businessmen and these will work alongside the existing volunteers and committee members to continue to drive Paget Rangers forward.

As part of the takeover, Paget Rangers Football Club and Birmingham St George’s Junior Football Club have merged with immediate effect. This move will see all of Birmingham St George’s existing junior teams come under the Paget Rangers banner in both the JPL and MJPL. As a result, from next season, Paget Rangers will be fielding a youth team in every age group from U7s to U19s as well as an open age adult team in the Midland Football League. The new structure will also develop girls teams and a women’s team in the very near future. It is hoped that Paget Rangers Football Club will be able to field two sides in every junior age group.

The new consortium have moved quickly to appoint coaches to various roles with the first team, James Parker himself will be Manager, ably assisted by Dwight Blake, with Mark Robinson as Matchday Coach and former professional footballer Courtney Pitt as Head Coach. The First Team Physio and Strength and Conditioning Coach is Rob Francis, whilst Martin Gethin has been appointed as Fitness Coach. The important role of Club Welfare Officer is to be shared between Sam Newbold and Michelle Parker.

Finally the new consortium felt it was extremely important to recognise the hard work, commitment and dedication of those who had helped to get Paget Rangers to where it is today. The consortium have therefore appointed former Chairman, Matthew Dainty, to the honorary role of Club President. Matthew will continue to have a strong say and influence on the Club’s board and decision making process as well as offering guidance and support as the club continues to develop and progress. Matthew’s role will ensure that the Club’s traditional values and heritage are at the forefront of everyone’s mind going forward as Paget Rangers Football Club looks to establish itself as one of the leading football clubs in the North Birmingham area.

Matt Seeley Appointed New Paget Rangers Manager

Ex-Player Rejoins The Bears as Manager

Paget Rangers have today confirmed the appointment of Matt Seeley as 1st team manager with immediate effect.

Matt, who was part of Paget’s double winning side in the 2016/17 season returns to the club after a hugely successful spell as manager at Alcester Town, where he guided them to the MFL Division 3 title last season.

Seeley will be joined in the dug out by another familiar face to Bears supporters with Paget centurion, Craig Gasiewski, joining him as assistant manager.

Paget Rangers Chairman, Matthew Dainty, said: ‘After the departure of Jason Lanns it was important that we moved quickly to bring in a new management team ahead of the pre-season programme. Matt and Craig came across superbly in their interview and their clear enthusiasm, passion and will to win was obvious from the start. As a Board we also felt it was important that the new management team had a good understanding of what Paget Rangers is all about and how we operate so that they can continue the great work of the previous management team. As both are former Paget players we know they will be able to hit the ground running when pre-season training commences next week. We are absolutely delighted to have them on board and we can now look forward to an exciting 2019/20 season.’

Club Statement:- Lanns Departs Coles Lane

Jason Lanns Leaves Paget Rangers

Paget Rangers can confirm that manager Jason Lanns has today departed the Bears to take up the vacant managerial post at Midland Football League Premier Division side, Heather St. John’s.

Lanns, who joined Paget Rangers in October 2014 guided Paget to a league and cup double in 2016/17 before establishing the Bears at Midland Football League Division 1 level, and leaves the club with a win rate in excess of 50% from his 208 competitive games in charge.

Paget Rangers Chairman Matthew Dainty said: ‘Whilst we are all deeply saddened to see Jason leave, he leaves on good terms and with our best wishes for the future. We would like to thank him for his enthusiasm, dedication and passion throughout his time at the club, as well as for his immense efforts in establishing the football club at a level for which we can all be proud, whilst operating with no playing budget whatsoever. The progress, development and expansion of the club over the past few seasons is a testament to Jason and his backroom staff’s tenure and whoever follows in his footsteps will certainly have some big shoes to fill.

A further statement on applications for the vacant managerial position will be made in due course.
