Match Preview: Paget Rangers vs Hinckley AFC

On Tuesday we welcome Hinckley AFC, a side Paget faced early in the season when the Bears, playing the majority of the game with ten men, succumbed to a 3-1 defeat at St. John’s Park. Since then much has changed for the visitors.

First manager Carl Abbott left to join Market Drayton (now at Quorn) and was replaced by non-league legend Dale Belford in the managerial hot-seat. Belford’s reign was short-lived however and Hinckley visit Church Road with Richard Lavery fulfilling a player/interim manager’s role.

Hinckley will be looking forward to getting back to some playing action at last this coming Tuesday, as other than a 5-0 FA Vase defeat at favourites Marske United, Hinckley haven’t played a game since Boxing Day. This however has allowed interim manager Lavery, to make a host of new signings ahead of the fixture against the Bears, meaning we are facing somewhat of an unknown quantity.

Hinckley currently sit proudly in the reformed Paget Rangers’ record books, courtesy of recording our highest attendance, 311, when they visited Church Road last season in an FA Vase 2nd Round proper clash, which Hinckley ultimately won 4-1.

As has been the case since their formation, Hinckley are again challenging at the top end of the Midland Football League 1st Division and come into this encounter in 8th position with 42 points from their 21 games so far. Paget are on a good run of form, winning 5 of their last 6 league games and currently sit 11th with 37 points from their 26 games.
